MEDITATION
Architecture, tessellation, and shadows were a great source of inspiration when I lived in downtown Dallas, TX. Monotony and boredom caused me to fixate on these city elements and prompted an equally repetitive response by folding hundreds of shapes - a meditation and discipline that matched what I was experiencing. This expanding series focuses on simple shapes and repeating patterns. The white paper provides a canvas for shadows, creating another layer of pattern depending on the light. Each shape is folded with precision and arranged in patterns that are meant to encourage a moment of serenity and stillness for the viewer.
