Oil Paintings
Columns throughout the New York City subway system are layered with decades of paint, gradually transformed by water, time, and the actions of commuters idly peeling away loose layers as they wait for the train. These ongoing changes create fleeting abstract compositions that often disappear as quickly as they emerge. Drawn to these unintended records of time, I began photographing the columns and translating them into oil paintings. Each work preserves a unique moment within an evolving system, revealing unexpected beauty in the overlooked details of everyday life.
